Most people think the crisis is the event. It isn’t. What sinks someone is the reaction that comes after, in the first hours and the days that follow, when the person at the center is least able to protect themselves and everyone around them is pulling in a different direction. I hold the person at the center, and I build the system around them so the whole team moves as one.
